Your Visit to the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo
What to Expect on Our Website for Education:
1. Teacher’s Guide:
Information will be listed that will help in preparing you for your visit to the IPM. It will cover Registration Procedures, Field Trip Guideline and Teacher’s Checklist.
2. “The Roseville Corral”:
This will be your home base. Information given will explain what you and your students will find in this area. You will know what to expect upon your arrival, your departure and how you can use this area during your visit.
3. Newsletters: “Down to Earth”:
There will be 5 newsletters outlining the Education Tents, other exhibits around the Tented City that our committee will recommend visiting as part of the educational tour, entertainment scheduled in various areas, demonstrations, activities, and announcements. The newsletters will also include pictures to illustrate some of the typical sights you will see.
4. Educational Passport Information and Framework:
You will be able to design a passport for your class to guide them to the Educational Sites you specifically want them to visit. Instructions and suggested tents/exhibits will be included. The passport will be stamped at the exit of the Education Tent exhibit.
5. Educational Links/Resources:
This is your connection to the Ontario curriculum as planned by a group of teachers (both elementary and high school), principal and superintendent from our region.
6. Map for Orientating Your Students:
Because of the size of the Tented City, you can use this map with your class for a lesson prior to your visit. It will help your individual groups travel to the Educational Tents and find their way back to “The Roseville Corral” and the Departure Area.
7. Registration Form:
This is where you will fill out the form to register with us. There will be 2 forms available. One will be for all elementary and secondary schools, including Private Schools and one will be for the Home Schools.
8. Visual Presentation:
We have obtained the video that was prepared for the IPM when held in Ayr in 1995. One of our committee members has had it converted to a CD and it will be put on the Education Site so teachers are able to see what makes up an “International Plowing Match and Rural Expo”.
Other committees will be adding information to their sections as well. Visit their sections so you get a flavour of all of the activities available.
