Calling all students!!!

The Waterloo Region is hosting the 2012 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo at Roseville from September 18 – 22, 2012.  The Education Committee would like to enlist the help of the students of our Region in decorating our “Roseville Corral” and the “Tented City”.

The scarecrow has been chosen as our mascot and we are naming it “Patches”.

We invite the students to make scarecrows for us to use at our sites.  The scarecrows should be made from mostly recycled materials so that very little cost is incurred.

We are looking for 2 sizes:

  1. 18”- to be displayed inside the tents – large body parts – arms, legs made with catstairs; try to have some 3D eg. stuffed bag for head;  made to hang.
  2. life size – to be displayed outside in our Education area as well as throughout the Tented City – use of clothing, stuffed body; can use sticks, broomsticks to make extended arms, made on sticks to plant in flower beds or made more flexible to hang from posts and fences.

If you are interested in helping us beautify “The Roseville Corral” and “Tented City”, please email to let us know.    turnerjeanne@hotmail.com

We would like to have the artwork the week of June 11 – 15th so that we can make plans for the displays.  Contact Carolyn Anderson at 519 579-2573 to make arrangements to have them picked up at your school.  The scarecrows will not be returned.

Please label the scarecrow clearly with the school name.

Your help would be wonderful and certainly add to the “Roseville Corral” and the “Tented City” for all to see and admire.  We hope your class will attend the Plowing Match and be able to see their artwork on display.
