If you would like to know what the Region of Waterloo is all about, come and visit the Regional Showcase Exhibit at the 2012 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, in Roseville, September 18-22, 2012. You will find four large tents full of displays showcasing the Region.
Municipalities Tent:
Waterloo Region is made up of three bustling cities, Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo, plus four scenic, predominantly rural townships, North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich. Each of these communities will display their uniqueness.
You’ll develop a fuller appreciation of the history of Waterloo Region, too. The Historical Society is celebrating their 100 year anniversary in 2012 and will be displaying items from the past.
Post Secondary Institutions Tent:
The Region of Waterloo is distinguished by the presence of quality post-secondary education institutions: The University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. Each of them will be focusing on what makes each one special.
Associations Tent:
Are you curious about the various associations and organizations that can be found in Waterloo Region? This is the place to be! You will find displays by agricultural groups such as 4-H, Women’s Institute; service clubs, organizations like the Heart and Stroke and many more.
Foodlink Waterloo Region and the Ontario Christian Gleaners Tent
Here is where you will find two local organizations that, in their own way, are making a difference both locally and abroad. You will be able to see what is grown locally and sample the soup made from the dried soup mix that is shipped around the world.
Foodlink Hosts Local Food Tent at IPM
Local food will be well represented at the International Plowing Match in Roseville, September 18-22. Foodlink Waterloo Region will be amongst the Regional Exhibit Displays playing host to a Local Food Tent. Approximately 15 Buy Local, Buy Fresh farms and partners will be featured along with a local food marketplace, demonstrations and interactive displays.
Foodlink’s Local Food Tent promises to be Entertaining, Educational and Engaging, while offering something for the whole family. Visitors of all ages will be able to chat with local farmers about how their food was produced, taste samples and purchase products to bring home. Youngsters will be able to participate in a scavenger hunt and learn fun food facts like the difference between a gourd and a pumpkin, the various grades of maple syrup and what to do with local herbs.
Visitors will also be able to pick up Foodlink’s Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map and learn more about their brand new local food finder App for mobile devices.
